Storm Water Management

SAVE WATER…

Stormwater management is a process of diverting and detaining (storing) road runoff during rainy seasons in urban areas. This is done majorly to avoid flooding, soil erosion and maintain ground water quality against contamination. This infrastructure will safeguard residential area, commercial establishments, roads, parks, water ways from flooding and contamination. The stormwater management is a practise to harvest the rainwater and to percolate it slowly to the ground or to natural water bodies.

One of the way to manage the stormwater is to establish excavated ponds that can be either maintained as in Dry condition or as wet conditions. The DRY ponds will be holding water only during rainy seasons and will remain dry during summer and the WET ponds will be holding water all through the year and slowly be percolating the water to the ground

Why Stormwater Management is Important

A well designed stormwater management system will be deigned in a way that the rainwater is effectively harvested and released in natural water ways, slowly, without disturbing the soil and infrastructure. This will replicate the olden days the water used to travel during rainy season before the urbanisation

If the stormwater management infrastructure is not established, there will be higher loss to the government due to flooding in communities, erosion of roads and bridges and even a large contamination in water bodies damaging the aquatic habitations. The water ways in rural and urban areas also get impacted due to lack of stormwater infrastructure, due to over runoff and high current with lots of collectable debris. The stormwater will lead the dirt, oil, grease, heavy metals, chemicals and fertilisers from the urban and industrial areas to the nearby water bodies, without proper stormwater infrastructure contaminating the water bodies and destroying the aquatic life permanently.

Some of the best way for stormwater managements are “Rain water Infiltration Wells, Urban Water Bank & Direct Road Runoff water to a underground infiltration Tunnels for proper percolation.

Rainwater infiltration wells

The Underground Rainwater infiltration wells provides underground water infiltration and can be installed in various locations, sizes, shapes and depths to meet specific project requirements. The entire project location can be used as a catchment area including stormwater, landscape and roof areas providing the water storage capacity to meet your requirements.

Urban Water Bank

CATCH THE RAIN – URBAN WATER BANKS:
Rainwater harvesting (RWH) modular tanks are made to Urban cities with almost 100% streets and roads covered with Cement concrete or Bitumen. RWH tanks are designed specially for India with modular structures and heavy load bearing capacity and ease of installation. The modules used in RWH wells are light in weight and can resist top loading of form 15 tons to 60 tons, based on various places of installation. These tanks are called URBAN WATER BANKS – as they perfectly suit for collecting, storing and infiltrating rain water in urban areas.

STORM WATER INFILTRATION TUNNELS

Infiltration tunnels are the products specially designed to be installed adjacent to streets, roads or in building set back areas, to harvest rainwater and to infiltrate at source. Otto Graf Gmbh, Germany has designed and developed SICKER infiltration tunnels to cater the needs in flood affected areas and drought hit areas to harvest and divert the stormwater and flood water to ground or to nearby water reservoir and thus avoiding floods in the traffic roads.
Graf Sicker tunnels are made of 85% Polyethylene (PE) materials and 15% specialized proprietary compounds those increase the strength of the materials up to load bearing of 60 tons per square meter traffic loads. The Sicker tunnels are very light weight, strong and easily stackable for easy shipment and can be installed at all places without need of heavy lifting equipment.
Space-saving and cost-efficient. Specifically designed for use in private and rural areas
